After the success of tween sessions, and meeting so many home educated amazing children, Stirchley Sewing school is now offering a weekly sewing class on a half term basis.
This group is aimed at age 7-12, and is for those that want to be messy and creative through the art of textiles. Think fabric printing, embroidery, tie dye, applique, fabric manipulation…
The group will be taught by owner, Charlotte, who has previously worked as a teacher and lecturer in both mainstream and SEN environments. She holds a fully enhanced DBS and has experience working with a variety of diagnosis’ in children.
Parents are welcome to stay until they feel comfortable their child is settled.
The first half term will focus on creating a small sketchbook of textile samples, in a theme chosen from a selection by each tween. This is a chance for tweens to get stuck in and use fabric as a canvas, get messy and be creative!
Weaving
Printing techniques on fabrics - mono-printing, block-printing, heat transfer printing
Applique/creating imagery on fabric
Each week the class will be 90 minutes long. This allows time for breaks/snacks and to ensure tweens can work at their own pace. There will always be drawing/colouring activities on offer for tweens that struggle to stay on task for longer periods and need things switching up!
