SWEATSHIRT WORKSHOP - Saturday 11th April
Saturday 11th April 10.00 - 17.00 - THE OLD POST OFFICE, 1533 PERSHORE ROAD, STIRCHLEY, B30 2JH
This is a one day workshop learning how to use stretch fabrics and applying these skills to make a sweatshirt.
You may have completed an Absolute Beginners class and want to make your first garment, or have made multiple garments before but never tackled stretch fabrics. You will have a recap on how to thread and use the machine if it’s been a while!
In this one day class, you will learn:
How to prepare your stretch fabric
Stretch fabric qualities - grain/stretch %’s
How to cut a pattern stretch fabric
How to sew stretch fabric using a domestic machine/different needle options
Inserting a stretch neckline
Stretch sleeve cuffs
You can choose between the following patterns (you will receive a physical copy of the pattern):
Sally sweater - raglan sleeves with a balloon style, no hem band giving an oversized look
Hanna Sweater - traditional sweatshirt shape, ribbed hem band, dropped shoulders
Drew sweatshirt - oversized fit with raglan sleeves (please note, there is not time to complete the colour block version)
All patterns are constructed in the same way, but slightly vary in details:
Please click on the links to check which option you would like - after booking you will receive an email with details regarding which pattern and what fabrics./how to pre wash and dry.
The session includes use of the sewing machine, all equipment and materials you need and cups of tea/coffee and biscuits. There is a lunch break and you are welcome to bring your own, store in fridge and use microwave, or pop out to the local high street!
